A Dressage Perspective

A Physical Therapist’s Journey

About me

My journey began with an interest in physical therapy for animals. After a long career with clinical experience in most aspects of the field and thousands of hours of continuing education, I found myself in the United Arab Emirates managing and directing the rehab department of Sheik Khalifa Medical Center in Abu Dhabi.. and it was here that I began to study…. and ride.

I continued riding when I returned to the U.S., and found an extraordinary instructor who supported my on-going education of the equine and equestrian world, I subsequently obtained certifications in Pilates, and as an Equine Rehab Practitioner, and Equine Sports Massage Therapist.

The more I read, the more I rode, I realized that the physical therapist could have a significant role in not only equine rehab but in equestrian fitness. And I discovered that my lack of knowledge and experience in the world of dressage led me to ask many questions, challenge traditional approaches, and “spur” me on (pun intended) to understand the horse world, continually addressing issues of equine welfare.
